Failure is Feedback: Why I Don't Measure Success by Getting It Right

I don't measure success by how many times I got it right - I measure it by how many times I failed forward. Here's why intentional failure is the key to growth.

Failure is Feedback: Why I Don't Measure Success by Getting It Right

👍 I don't measure success by how many times I got it right - I measure it by how many times I failed forward.

Sounds strange?

Let me explain. 👇

💥 "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face."

  • Mike Tyson

That line hits deeper than most "motivational quotes." Because it's real.

You don't know how solid your plan is until it's tested under real pressure - and usually, that pressure hurts.

But that's where growth lives. In discomfort. In failure. In the punch you didn't see coming.

🎯 I live by this philosophy: Never be afraid to fail. In fact, the more I fail, the more I inch closer to success.

Not reckless failure. Not lazy mistakes. Intentional, conscious, curious failure - with one goal: 📚 To learn, adapt, and grow.

After every failure, I ask: 🔍 What did I learn? 🔁 What can I do differently next time? 🔥 How can this make me better?

If I haven't failed recently, I probably haven't pushed hard enough.

⚡ I believe in moving fast. I believe in learning faster. And I believe in never stopping that loop.

Not perfection - progress.

If you're not experimenting, if you're not trying new things, if you're playing it safe…

You're not just avoiding failure - you're also avoiding your full potential.

🛡️ But here's the thing: We need to create safe environments where people can take risks and fail without fear.

That's where true innovation happens. That's where real confidence is built. That's where high-performing teams are born.

🚢 A ship is safest in the port… But that's not what ships are built for.

And neither are we.

💬 I read this recently and it stuck with me:

"We don't learn from mistakes. We learn from the impact they have." - Karel Malbroukou Moendzenahou

That impact - the sting, the disappointment, the reflection - that's the gold. That's where transformation happens. That's where we stop playing small games and start living bigger ones.

So here's my take: 👏 Celebrate the risks. 🙌 Normalize the stumbles. 📈 Learn faster than you fall.

The question isn't "Did I fail?" It's: Have I failed enough to succeed?
